Happy February!
When considering the topic for this month’s blog, I was thinking about the plethora of possibilities – Valentine’s Day, Pancake Day, the start of Spring…and as part of my research, I stumbled upon an interesting concept: National Set a Good Example Day on February 26.
“A good example has twice the value of good advice”
Some great words by Alsatian polymath Albert Schweitzer, which demonstrates the importance of our actions. Schweitzer became famous for hosting benefit concerts and lectures in Europe as a way of fundraising for a hospital in Africa. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his philosophy of “reverence for life” and extensive humanitarian work.

When we consider our own daily lives, we can apply simple practices to inspire others. If we take a moment to consider a hero in our own lives, whether that is in the local community or perhaps a loved one amongst family and friends, how do we feel?
When we observe kindness being shared by them, aren’t we often inspired to share kindness ourselves?
Everyone influences each other to some extent…whether that be positive or negative…
From a very young age, we experience good and bad behaviour from those around us. And we are taught to practise the good behaviour and eradicate the bad. When we see leaders who demonstrate positive strength, guidance, awareness and responsibility we are encouraged to follow in their footsteps and share the good behaviour.
We can set a good example by simply:
+sharing kindness
+behaving with compassion
+acting with fairness
+practising tolerance
+being just
+treating others with respect
Having recently attended a Dinghy show, I was blown away by the number of positive role models who were present there. Every sailor, from beginner to Olympic athlete, shared a passion for the sport and sought to share their experience and advice with those who attended the event. This was an amazing event which showcased the importance of spreading positive attitudes.

I am delighted to say that I have continued with more episodes of my own mini podcast-type series @snippetswithsitara which featured stars from every walk of life, talking about their own life experiences, how they deal with their challenges and their advice for future generations…recent episodes feature British Sailing team athletes Sam Whaley and Eilidh McIntyre whose sailing stories are incredibly inspiring for any athlete. I am always looking for new individuals to feature in this series, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch with any suggestions! Please follow the account on Instagram and TikTok @snippetswithsitara to receive the latest updates and episodes!
Thank you for all your continued support for the brand Instagram account. As shown in the photographs above, I have thoroughly enjoyed creating Valentine’s Day and Pancake Day creations and hope that you have too…
I conclude the blog of February with the following words by Sadhguru:
“Love is your quality. Love is not what you do. Love is what you are.”
Lots of love,
Sitara xxxx
